Welcome
Dimension 21 is a forward-thinking web design business, based in Herefordshire, aiming to
provide you with a first class service in website design and e-commerce.
Websites don't have to be made complicated to be professional - far from it.
On many occasions, websites are so complicated that people can't understand them,
'bells and whistles' are used inappropriately and in recent findingds, 80% of websites
are inaccessible to users with disabilities.
Under the
Disability Discrimination Act, it is now a legal requirement for
commercial websites and those providing services to the public, to comply with the
Priority 1 level of Website Accessibility Regulations (WCAG 1.0), set out by the
Worldwide Web Consortium (W3C). These regulations cover issues including:
- How sites are interpreted by screen-readers, often used by the partially sighted
- The limitations of computer devices and how they interact with a site
- Making sure that information is conveyed so that it is available to everyone
We take the issue of accessibility very seriously. Through hand coding and testing,
we design sites to fully comply with the WCAG 1.0, without comprimising on design.
Not only this, but we also ensure sites are standards-compliant, which essentially
means they will work and look good on a wide variety of web browsers and devices.
The benefit to our clients is that their sites can be accessed by more people and
can evolve as technology progresses.
We have developed our own e-commerce system which is easy for the customer to make
purchases and convenient to maintain through an online admin system. Integrated into
this is a news system, mailing list and events diary - everything that an SME needs
to maintain an online store. The best bit - it integrates completely into the site
design to give the professional image that many designers fail to achieve.
